How to record breeding codes for fledgling cuckoos

If I observe a cuckoo being fed by its host what breeding codes should be used? If the cuckoo is in the nest NY for the cuckoo and ON for the host with supporting notes? If the cuckoo is out of the nest FL for the cuckoo and FY for the host? Or record nothing for the host as they haven't been succesful?

Hi Martin,

If the cuckoo is still in the nest, the correct code is "NY" for both species. If the cuckoo is out of the nest, the correct codes are "FL" for the cuckoo and "FY" for the host, as you described. And, yes, it's a great idea to include notes with additional information.
