In need of a good field guide to shorebirds in El Salvador
I'll be conducting a project in Bahía Jiquilisco, El Salvador next month, focusing on use of seagrass beds as compared to unvegetated mudflats by shore birds and crabs. The problem is I've generally worked with plants and animals that live under water in the past so my shore bird identification isn't great. Can anyone recommend a field guide with good information about Salvadorean shorebirds?

Basically all the shorebirds, except for the Thick-knee, you will encounter in El Salvador are North American breeders. So any good North American field guide such as National Geographic, Sibley, Kaufman etc would work.

If you want to improve your bird ID skills, then Ebird has a quiz you can do. Here is the link to that:https://ebird.org/quiz/
