Where are the hummingbirds

I live in Moore county NC and I haven’t seen very few hummingbirds this year. They don’t stop by my feeders. I keep them very clean and rich with red colors. Is there a reason for less sightings this year in my area? Thank you

Possible reasons might be an abundance of flowers, other feeders nearby that, for some reason the birds find more attractive or maybe the birds that you had last year have died. Give it time.

Sue and Karl,

We are not certain where Moore County NC is located, but we see through the Explore Data tab for 2019 that there is a swath of the landscape along the Piedmont where ruby-throated hummers are not as frequently seen as they are noted both along the coastal plain and through the mountains.

At Explore species try hummers and watch the purple rectangles develop as you increase the zoom? Fun to see the perspective develop.

Good birding,
