19th century record

The Quebec Rare Bird Committee would like to compile an historical data of a Labrador Duck in Spring 1862 (with photos of the specimen). However, no specific date exists for this record. Entering this signting with the January 1st 1900 protocole appears irrelevant here. Would there be another way ?

We first suggest that you contact eBird directly at one of the choices to right above or even the tiny contact far right above. This is only a community forum and eBird gurus seldom search or reply here.

But other advice is that you may know the start end dates of the expedition that secured the specimen. That is a start. Nothing on the museum label? Accession records at museum? Newspaper articles might help narrow the time interval if the bird was newsworthy at the time? Personal journals of the field team?

We are certain you have already considered our suggestions, but the best one we offer is to contact the big guys at eBird diretly.

Good birding,
