How long out of the nest is not considered Recently Fledged?

My checklist of 29June, I saw and recorded as as recently fledged a juvenile E Bluebird. I have several occupied nestboxes. This the first young
bird I have seen though I don't know exactly when fledged or if they are from my boxes. Their was an adult nearby.

Courtney,

I am certainly not an expert, but recently fledged last certainly for several weeks and especially while the juvenile has any contact with parents. Some birders might say that the young bird in general vicinity of its nest is recently fledged. But just how far in time and space is probably dependent on the species and the birder. I suggest that any juvenile bluebird in North America in July is still recently fledged.

good birding,

meg
