stuck on a screen in the iPhone app

I was looking at the help screen on my phone (iPhone 6) yesterday and did something (inadvertent touch somewhere?) that caused all of the navigation tools to go away. There seemed to be no way to leave the screen to go anywhere else.
In desperation I uninstalled the app and retrieved it again from the cloud (didn't seem to be any other option as far as source goes in the app store). Now it wants me to log in (seems reasonable) but when I put in my username and password I get a message that I'm not connected to the Internet or the server isn't responding. I know I'm connected to functioning wifi and I'm pretty sure your server is fine. . .
So now there's no way for me to get anywhere else in the app and I'm trapped again.

Any ideas?

I'm stuck on the FAQs page. Did you ever get an answer to how to get back to the main Start Page with the large green circle?
