Has there been a decline in the Northern Flicker population in Northern Mississippi?

I don't see near as many of them as I did some years ago. There were times that I would see dozens on the ground in my back yard.

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology the Northern Flicker is declining in all US states but California, Nevada, and Alaska.
