Reviewers have tagged some eBird checklists as having imprecise dates; these checklists show this message at the top:
Imprecise date. This list has sightings that span more than one calendar day. A specific date is required for public display: this checklist and its observations do not appear in public eBird outputs. More information.
Checklists submitted for visits that cover multiple calendar days are not displayed publicly in eBird. There are two reasons for this: 1) migration timing for many species is very specific and having a precise date is critical to eBird bar charts and other date-specific data uses; 2) shorter duration checklists are more useful for scientific use. Best practices
are to break up long duration checklists into shorter segments and to always start a new checklist for Nocturnal birding.
Checklists that do not appear in public eBird output are also not used for science. To learn more please see our Public and Non-public Checklists for more information on how checklists are displayed.
