is my "date of first sighting" data useful?

I'm new to eBird. Last summer during my fieldwork I kept a list of the first day that I saw a bird species throughout the summer, and the location. I didn't record numbers after I saw the first one. Is this data useful? I was out in the field basically 7 days a week in a relatively small area so I think its a pretty good illustration of when birds were showing up in the area.

Check out the eBird features at the Help and Info page titled

"What data are appropriate"
and
"How to make your checklists more valuable"

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with those data points as long as they are entered accurately; they'd be made most valuable when each is part of a "complete checklist" with counts included for each species combined with accurate location and effort data.
