Looking at all observations in an area
I would like to know if I can, and if so how can I search for observations in an area which is not an "official" area in eBird. For example I want to know all species reported around a certain city, regardless of hot-spots.
I guess what I am looking for is a way to choose an area on the map and see all the submitted sightings in it.

You can search a county or state here: https://ebird.org/places
This will pull up the recently seen birds in that region. You can then press "More Recent Visits" on the right to see the recent checklists from that region.
You can't directly see each individual checklist point on a map.

Thank you Mike for your reply,
However, what I am looking for is a way to see the same data I can see for a country or a state, but to choose the region on a map according to my definitions - simply by marking a square around the desired region.
For example if I want to see all the birds seen around Malaga (Spain) and the surrounding fields, I will be able to find this city on a map (as possible now) and manually mark a square around the desired area.
