Trying to ID a bird by it's call

I have a bird in the yard whose call is tweeter, tweeter, tweeter, tweet. Very distinct in those sounds as if speaking it plainly and then it repeats. The Merlin app has not done well in identifying it at all. Any ideas?

John,

We imagine folks will assist, but assist the readers better? You will receive better answers.

Where are you located? What other birds do you recognize by song? What birds have you eliminated? What is your local habitat - manicured lawns, shrub, agricultural, coastal, lush forest, other?

Good birding,

Meg

Oh sorry that would help - I'm in Virginia Beach, VA in a developed wooded neighborhood on a brackish marsh. I'm thinking that it might be a Carolina Wren but Merlin doesn't think so - it came up with Bald Eagle and some other weird ideas.
