All of my reported birds show up on the range maps EXCEPT for hoary redpoll. Why is that?

I have been on the lookout for hoary redpolls since I have been seeing common redpolls visit my feeder for at least the last 2-3 weeks. I am diligent in knowing what to look for and how to tell the two species apart.

I understand the need to have good, reliable data. My observation has not been added to the range map updates nor have I been contacted to make sure I can tell the difference between the common and hoary redpoll. Why are some people's 2018 hoary redpoll sightings on the range map but my sighting is not? Thanks!

was the species (hoary) rare in the process of submitting the checklist? if so, did you provide details and/or pictures?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it was rare and I did provide details but no photograph.

I now understand that rare birds have to be reviewed. I have not yet been contacted by a reviewer. I didn't think it would take so long.
