What is a bird irrition?

We have a swarm of birds fly in, stay in our shrubs and trees for a few minutes and they fly away. Someone told me it was an irrition but I can't find a definition anywhere.

They probably meant irruption.
Google bird irruption, you'll get a better definition than I can give you.

I think this was more of a stopover, like when tourists get off a bus, take a few selfies and then get back on a bus and leave. Birds participating in an irruption likely stay for a longer period of time. We had an irruption of Coal Tits two winters ago. They are mountain birds that suddenly appeared here in city parks, spent winter and left. The last time we had them before that was some 10+ years ago. They didn't appear last winter.
