How do I merge my data from a shared location with a hotspot?

I have been updating my eBird personal locations by merging them with a hotspot when applicable. Any location that has been shared with me by another birder will not let me merge my data with the hotspot data. A good example is Crow Indian Lake where the person who shared the location with me called it a personal location. How do I merge my data with the hotspot location?

Well, I see two ways to do it; which is easier depends on how many checklists you have in the shared location.

1. have the other birder merge their personal location into the hotspot, or

2. move your checklist(s) to the hotspot (one by one if necessary).

hope that helps -

Point 1. makes sense to me, but my preference is to just move my stuff. I guess next time I bird in the location, I could just look for the hotspot and enter my data that way. Then I expect I would end up with 2 data points, 1 the hotspot and 1 the shared personal spot, both with the same name.
Point 2. I'm not sure how to move my checklists on a shared location to the hotspot. It's not a drag and drop situation is it? When I open up my location, it doesn't give me the choice to move or merge.

You would have to open each checklist one at a time and edit the location (an option given at the top of the checklist when it is opened)

Thanks, that method seems to work. I tried a few with success.

Just an FYI, but there was a newly created hot spot in my area, and I had 70+ personal location reports for that spot. I wanted to merge all my reports with the hot spot, but I also was not given any option to merge when I opened my personal location. I certainly didn't want to change the location one-by-one for all 70+ reports! But finally decided I would just start and do a few at a time. So I went to one report and edited the location to the hot spot. Location and behold! After I did that I suddenly had the merge option available when I opened my personal location, and then was able to merge all the remaining 70+ reports with just a single merge step.
