Can eBird help confirm which hawk I saw?

In Costa Rica, we saw a hawk perched above a stream/river near the Savegre Mtn Lodge. It looked and sounded just like the dark morph of the Short-tailed Hawk in my phone app, and that hawk is on the checklist for that area. It did have a white tip to the tail though, and it looked like one white band on the tail as well -- and I haven't been able to confirm if that is possible for a Short-tailed Hawk. Two different guides who saw our photos of the bird, said it was a Zone-tailed Hawk -- which would be rare for that area. I thought the call sounded more like the Short-tailed than what I've found for a Zone-tailed. I was wondering if several people familiar with these two hawk species could take a look at my photos and give me a consensus -- ? Thank you.

Hey Jonathan,
If you look at other ID requests in this help forum you'll notice that usually the active members of this forum (of which there aren't many) don't have experience with the birds people are asking about and the asker will be re-directed to another website.
There are lots of places available to get help IDing a bird. You can try whatbird, birdforum, or a facebook group. There are international and local facebook groups that you can post the photo in.
